Frank and I knew each other at Woodward, but we connected and bonded as close friends when we were brought together as Cadets in the Military Science (Army R.O.T.C.) program at the University of Cincinnati. Upon graduation from UC in 1969, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army Medical Service Corps. When he completed his MD degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1973, he was transitioned into the Army Medical Corps. Frank was assigned to Schofield Barracks in Oaho, Hawaii. After finishing his military service as a Captain, he trained in Anesthesiology. He settled in on the Hilo (Eastern) side of the Big Island of Hawaii where he remained for the rest of his life. Through his chosen profession, friends, and family; he touched so many people.

Frank's former wife -- Jerelyn Hammer -- called me, shortly after his death, to inform me about the sad news. As soon as our phone conversation ended, my mind was flooded with so many memories of the times he and I shared together. Life is so fragile and short. My sincere condolences and prayers go out to Jerelyn, Steven, Felicia, Sylvia, Beth, Amy, and their families.

To my "old buddy" Frank -- Thank you so much for your honorable military service to our country and your friendship. May you forever rest in peace.

Steve
