In memory of my football buddy-no play could start without you. So sorry to hear about the news of the passing of our "center". I am a prostate cancer survivor and will carry many good thoughts of our football team and time together.

I recall Fritz and I co-starring in a play at Anderson Junior High. We even sang a duet. We were not friends, really, but i had such a crush on him then and I have fond memories of our stage partnership.

In 1956 Salem Pike was being widened from 2 lanes to four. The storm water system was just being completed and I had climbed down about 10 feet or so to get a closer look at the minnows swimming in the water.(Polution wasn't what it is today!) Above me the light was suddenly blocked. When I looked up a kid was standing over the grate I had removed to climb down in. That was how I met Fritz. For a couple of years we would "pall around" together. He had a tough schedule. By 4:00 he had to be home and start his studies. Too much discipline for me! Though from that time on or relationship was one of waves and shouts across the street, we lived about 250 feet apart, Fritz was always a kind and engaging guy. Intelligence and discipline helped to make him a good student but I believe it was his good heart that attracted people to him.
