Paula and I met when we were 12 and remained close friends until the day she died. She bravely battled cancer (macroglobular anemia) defying the odds until she succumed to lukemia in 2007. More importantly she lived with a smile for her many friends and family and a joi de vivre. I treasure her friendship and miss her dearly.
Paula and I became friends in Junior High. She was a dear, caring, sincere friend her whole life. We went through Job's Daughters together from age 12 to 18. We also attended Cal Poly, Pomona together, having many fun, memorable times there until we both were married. We roomed together in the girl's dorm at Cal Poly for two or three quarters. We kept in touch over the years and caught visits when possible with our families in California and Montana. She and my sister-in-law both struggled with the same rare blood cancer and so they kept in touch and shared information with each other to maximize their knowledge and care opportunities. My sister-in-law, Diane, also thought the world of Paula. She and her whole family were so special to me and to everyone that knew them. I remember her with deep gratitude for having been able to call her a dear friend.
