Terry Michael Stephens

December 7, 1950 ~ October 24, 2018

Terry (Mike) Stephens, age 67, passed away at home on October 24, 2018 of renal failure.

Mike was born December 7, 1950 in Alamosa, Colorado, to Steve and Iona Stephens. He was the fourth of five siblings; the family remained in Alamosa until Mike was seven, at which time his father headed for California, but found work with the Union Pacific Railroad in Ogden, Utah. Iona packed up her five small children in the middle of winter and headed to Ogden to join her husband.

Mike graduated from Clearfield High in 1969 at which time he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam where he was wounded and returned home under an honorable discharge in 1971. He married in 1973 and had four children: Farah, James, Erin and Matthew; he later divorced.

On December 31, 1991, Mike married the love of his life, Vicki Vaughn. He helped raise her two children, Heather and Nick.

Mike worked construction for many years until he was hired on at Hill Air Force Base and retired in 2014.

One of his greatest loves was his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He and his wife took many road trips around the country and he loved coordinating travel to the rallies with his wife and friends.

His other great love was taking trips with his family to Island Park, where they spent a week every year fishing, four-wheeling and cooking dutch oven breakfasts.

He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his wife, Vicki; his three sons: James (Paula), Matthew, Nick Vaughn; his three daughters: Erin Richey (Clark), Heather Bassett, Farah; his five grandchildren: Lexi, Braye, Connor, Izac, Dakota; and his three siblings: Lynn Jacobson, Pam Surganovich, Gary Stephens.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Leah Burns.

A gathering to celebrate his life will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Comfort Suites, 2550 S. 1200 W., Ogden, UT.

I am deeply saddened by this news :(  

Mike was a very good friend while growing up in elementary, junior and high school. 

I send my thoughts and prayers to his family. 

We have lost so many from our class of "69".
