Story from Mark Wayment

I sure did think a lot of yer Pa growin up and seeing him every day was just part of life back then. I’m sure there is way more than a couple of good stories we could tell from those days on the bus. One story I have told over and over the past 30 something years was getting on yer dads bus one afternoon when school had got out for the day and while I was greeted by yer dad in passing a young man behind me hauled off and pushed me so hard I lost all balance and whacked my chin off one of the seat backs and tumbled to the floor of the bus, I jumped up in amazement at what had happened and reared back a right fist ready to let one fly when I heard yer dads voice “ Ya gonna fight”??? I knew what I wanted to do and I nodded YES, yer dad said, “ Not on my bus” so I kindly escorted the guy that wanted a fight back out the door and as I walked by yer dad he said “ I’ll wait” and gave me a nod of his head. I threw a few punches in efforts to make my swollen chin fill better and in hopes that this kid wouldn’t do what he did anytime soon and got back on the bus, yer dad looked at the bloody nosed kid and said “you getting on “ he said Nope and yer dad hauled us all home that day.
