For those from the south and west coast in regards to the weather. The season would be called Fall. Do you remember it? The leaves change colors and fall off of the trees! Really very pretty. You don't need to buy a winter coat. What do you wear in your "winter" at night when it's in the 50's or 60's? Don't say it doesn't happen because we've all been on vacations in LA and Florida when it was cold. So pretend it is your winter and dress accordingly. Make sense?? And remember, Cleveland weather can't be forecast accurately. Be prepared for anything, lol.

Sandie is right.... The trees are a wonder to see.... and while it can be cold at night it is not unbearable... for a logterm forecast go to http://www.accuweather.com/us/oh/beachwood/44122/forecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&metric=0

For all you "warm weather wusses"...good news...bad news...bad news first...it may be fall-like in fall...good news...no earthquakes, wildfires, hurricanes, or flying cockroaches...OK, they're called palmettos!

another fashion tip wear underwear on your head to keep your ears warm

LOL You guys are cuckoo! I finally went shopping yesterday but not done yet. I got some really cute outfits for our trip, but none of them have sleeves, but I did get an outerwear thing that has sleeves and hopefully that will be warm enough. I'm also dragging my husband to this thing so his job is to keep me warm too! We are hitting Chicago for a few days so I'm sure it will be nippy there also. See ya!

Hey Joyce! I can bring you guys some cockroaches so you can say you have them there too! No problem at all, we have zillions. How bout some lizards too, we have more than zillions, they are really cute....

Val, I'll pass on the cockroaches but I'm sure if I would ask my daughter ( I won't!) she would take a lizard...she's an animal addict and among other creatures she breeds leopard gechos!! Thanks for thinking of me!!!

Although we don't have the flying cockroaches (Hawaii does, one landed on my shoulder!!) we do have the cutest lizards running all over my backyard. Okay an occasional rattle snake under the bushes but usually the babies come out in the spring. Okay perhaps the coyotes eat all your cats and dogs if you're not with them at all times but we don't have any gaters at least. I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE LEAVES. DON'T ANYONE MESS WITH THOSE LEAVES!!!

Louie, thanks for the added fashion accessory. I will be your utmost model!

Val, you think you're confused about what to wear....I started Optifast a month ago and plan to stay on it until the end of the year. This means ONLY drinking 5 shakes a day. I am losing weight but have been shopping in my closet as I have about a dozen different sizes. I don't know what will fit me until the last minute. Talk about confused!!!

So I will be going to all the restaurants as I do here and just drink diet cokes (I cheat with a slice of lemon in it). I didn't do this for the reunion, I would have done it anyway. I figure by the time reunion comes around I will look like I did the last reunion!!! How's that for aging!! Although the next reunion I will look even better as I plan to "surf" for my 60th birthday. That gives me a bit of time for my friends to find me a "log" to surf on!!

I am soooooo excited to go home and see all my homies. And of course all my homlies too!!

I'm shopping in my closet too...since it's casual, I'll probably wear nicer jeans on Friday with some kind of shirt/jacket combo, and nicer slacks (black...I have a closet full of black slacks and Chicos jackets) with a shirt/jacket combo.

My biggest problem is shoes. I think I'm going to wear a dress sandal...better get a pedicure too!!

For those of you coming from "warmer" climates...think layers. And you know..if you find yourself chilly when you arrive...the DO have stores in Cleveland!! Heck, you can stop in Beachwood Place before coming to Mangianos.

I wish we had some old photos of our Bluebird and Camp Fire Girl group. Sandie, do you have any?

I, too, am confused about how dressed up is 'casual dress'?

Clare,
I can transport some 2-3" Palmetto Bugs from sunny southeastern NC and bring them as pets to the parties. They can certainly add some spark!
It's harder to catch the lizards, but I can bring a whole lot of those to the reunion, too. I remember when my kids were little, I paid several dollars each for anoles at Cleveland-area pet stores. Somebody might want to take a pet lizard home to the grandkids! :)

Thankfully, our rattlers, moccasins, and coral snakes keep to themselves. The copperheads are less poisonous, but more aggressive than the others. The good news is that our black snakes eat poisonous snakes.
Who would have guessed that there are good snakes?

Every once in a while, though, our "Bible Belt" ERs are given the heads up that there's a snake-handling ceremony in town. "If you truly believe, you are safe."
In the ER, we meet and greet the non-believers.

Louie:

No one has set a dress code for either night. Many asked for guidelines so we said casual, defined as you wish. If you want to wear jeans, (or pants with patch pockets, remember that) be our guest.

At previous Reunions many men had come in jacket and tie and we just want people to be comfortable. (We don't expect many in ties this time around, but wear what you want).

Finally....someone in the forums asked what our older self would tell our HS self if given the opportunity. This was months ago. I now have my answer. I'm slow, but I get there....I would tell my younger self "have a better sense of humor and be able to laugh at yourself. Don't take everything so seriously." It makes life less stressful to say the least. Obviously, Joel and Louie knew that all along! OK, back to your regularly scheduled forum.

What's a patch pocket? How bout holes? Are they legal?

Joyce, I just added who sent in the girl scouts photo. Do you know what year that was taken?

10/04/09 10:57 AM #2799

Joyce Shrallow (Presser)

Thank you Maxine and Donna...I would guess the year at 1963-Maxine probably knows...I think her sweet mother was troop leader....for those who may not know-that beautiful little girl above me was Allison Krause from the slaughter at Kent State 1970.

Oh Louie, do you always do what you are told?????

10/04/09 04:50 PM #2802

Sue Kozack (Katz)

Whoever uploaded the girl scout picture from Taylor, thanks. I can't believe that anyone kept pictures. Unfortunately both of my parents passed away and I have no idea what happened to most of my old pictures.
If I remember right it was taken in Maxine's basement since her mom was the troup leader. Any other pictures out there? It brings back memories. I do know that it was taken in either fifth or sixth grade as I only moved to Cleveland Hts., in fifth.

I'm going to put 1963 on the girl scout picture unless I hear differently..

10/04/09 09:23 PM #2804

Shelley Hornik (Lloyd)

Well..I was in the Girl Scout group at Taylor in 6th grade only...that would have been the 1962-1963 school year, I believe. I am NOT in that picture. I'm going to guess it's a year or so earlier than 1963. Maybe 5th grade or even 4th...sorry...no one in that picture looks like a 6th grader!!

10/04/09 11:25 PM #2805

Val Iberall (O'Connor)

OK, so how bout if I change it to 1961? Hey, Sue Kozack is in the picture and she says she didn't move to Cleve. Hts. til the 5th grade.
