I wish we had some old photos of our Bluebird and Camp Fire Girl group. Sandie, do you have any?
I, too, am confused about how dressed up is 'casual dress'?
Clare, I can transport some 2-3" Palmetto Bugs from sunny southeastern NC and bring them as pets to the parties. They can certainly add some spark! It's harder to catch the lizards, but I can bring a whole lot of those to the reunion, too. I remember when my kids were little, I paid several dollars each for anoles at Cleveland-area pet stores. Somebody might want to take a pet lizard home to the grandkids! :)
Thankfully, our rattlers, moccasins, and coral snakes keep to themselves. The copperheads are less poisonous, but more aggressive than the others. The good news is that our black snakes eat poisonous snakes. Who would have guessed that there are good snakes?
Every once in a while, though, our "Bible Belt" ERs are given the heads up that there's a snake-handling ceremony in town. "If you truly believe, you are safe." In the ER, we meet and greet the non-believers.
