Steve, I DO remember Carl Sandburg's daughter speaking at an assembly at Roosevelt. It was one of the oddest assemblies I ever attended.

Did you really think Miss Parker was one of the best English teachers? I thought the ONLY good English teacher I had was Miss Shallcross...hers was the room practically next to the office.

To be honest, I thought Miss Parker was a southern belle gone bad. I couldn't stand her. Of course, I had HER the same year I had Miss Dick. It was a banner year.

I also have fond memories of Mr. Lasky.  I think my favorite Hts. teacher was Mrs. Bernard in Chemistry.  I found her truly inspirational.  I started out college as a chemistry major, but switched to medical technology.  I saw a notice recently in the Cleveland Jewish News that she died.

I also had problems with Dr. Bell.  I really was interested in science and math, but that wasn't "for girls" back then, so I had to squeeze those subjects in.  Of course I ended up in science in college.

Another fabulous teacher was Mrs. Rabinsky.  I had her at Wiley in 9th grade during possibly her first year as a teacher.  She later went on to teach at Hts.  Also, an inspirational teacher.  I remember being fascinated by mythology as a result of her teaching.

Hey, I like the choices in fonts and colors!!

Hope to see some of you this Thursday at Champps!!

I read that last year, Lesley--makes me sick to my stomach.

I hope the truth comes out. The blame is at the top.

sorry to report the passing of David Goldstein (Chicago) David was a happy go lucky person who always  laughed and knew how to enjoy life. believe it or not i became reaquainted with David in 1974 (we both on our first honeymoons) our families remained extremely close over the years, especially with his cousins.

I just had a 7th grade moment....Does anyone remember being in Miss Child's English class in Roosevelt, last period, when she started giving a spelling test AFTER they announced Kennedy had been shot?  That's a junior high minute I'll never forget. Anyone out there from that class???

Charles, (Chuck) Balcher

Steve and Shelley,     Just got off the phone with Mr. Fusco. I thanked  him for giving me that "A", in 7th. grade. He told me that I don't know how much that phone call means to him. Very touching.

Wow Chuck.....makes me think maybe I should contact him as well.

Sheryl, I had Mrs. Childs in 7th grade but I had her earlier in the day. She was soooo anal it doesn't surprise me that she continued on course for her day! I was in music class with Mr. Yanik? who weeped! He was a great teacher! Sandy & Joyce were in my class.

My sympathys go to the Goldstein family and friends for the passing of David, who is no relationship to my ex-husband (for those of you who may wonder!).

I was in Mr Sube (spl) science class when the announcement about Kennedy was made... The one thing I remember is waiting with a friend for the CLeveland Press to come... It was quite late at nite...I do belive that is one of the first things I will remember where I was when I heard some news.... (of course 9/11 is another)

Today on NPR there was a special segment here in Fort Myers about Kent State. They had one of the wounded on who retold the story. It was extremely well done and very chilling.  A real black mark on Rhodes and the Ohio National Guard.

We, folks our age, sure have lived through a lot of history!! Kent, Vietnam, Kennedy assassination and MLK as well. Two in the same year...1968. Who can forget where we were when we heard all of this news and so much more.

All we were saying is give PEACE!! a chance!!

Anne Gutow (Chapman)

Clare, Sandy, and Joyce,

I was also in Mr. Yanik's class when they announced President Kennedy's assassination! I also remember Mr. Yanik crying. I didn't remember Ms. Child's exam that day, but I know she was my last period English teacher. Somebody in the front row fell asleep in class. She insisted that we tiptoe quietly around him when class ended. Anyone who woke him up would have to stay after school. I don't know what ultimately happened when he woke up.

Beth,

You've made an impressive list. And for something completely out of left field, don't forget to add "Man walking on the Moon" to it!

Kenny,

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your friend. As Joel says, he is at peace now.

AND ANOTHER HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL!!

I have been communicating with Ana Chapman who went to the Kent State Memorium this year.  She told me about a cool website where I posted my Woodstock story.  I have attached the link.

I'm curious who else in our class went.  I remember there were other CHHS kids there but it was so long ago and I just don't remember.  Let us know who went too.
