Cold is relative. I live in Orlando and tonight it will be 28 degrees and we will be scraping the frost off our car windshield tomorrow morning.

Weather update from the sunny beaches of southeast North Carolina:
Our snow melted by yesterday afternoon. Luckily, I got my plants in the house before killing them off (again).

My one son informed my other son of the morning snow yesterday by attacking him in the shower with snowballs.

Louie, I appreciate your generous foot-of-snow offer. That is very kind. I think I'll pass for now.

OK, for all you Southerners, here's what winter is really like up north in Michigan. The local paper here reports today that our total snowfall so far is 147 inches, and Feb./March are always killers. I do remember the winter of '79 when my daughter was born in Milwaukee. For the month of Jan., it never got ABOVE ten below. Makes today's 10 degrees feel warm! But, the snow here is white and when the sun happens to shine, it's worth all the shoveling. (Of course, a snowblower is a necessity.)

Hi Val-

WAAH! :)

Well I've been bundled up all day..got my husband's socks on so at least my feet are staying warm. Hey, speaking of that...guess what I am munching up right this second...my package from Humphrey's just got here and I am eating a popcorn ball!! It's delicious. The taffy, well it's really cold here and it has been traveling so it is very very hard right now and we are afraid to eat it because it will take your teeth right out of your mouth it's so hard! But I did get one softened up enough so I could taste it. It is better than the smoky mountain taffy for sure, but I can't say that it tastes how I remember...I mean that's like what 50 years ago? But it's definitely good! Thanks so much for bringing it up! Stay warm everyone...

OK...I need a "memory lane" assist. Last night my husband and I saw Jersey Boys. If you haven't seen it (and you were a Four Seasons fan), it is fabulous.

Here's my question. I SAW the real Four Seasons (before the breakup) in concert in the small hall at Public Auditorium, and I'm trying to remember when it was...I'm guessing either 1967 or 1968. Did anyone else go to that who remembers it? It was the best show I think I've ever seen. I can't remember who I went with...or when. BUT last night I remembered the lyrics to EVERY song that was performed!!

It was one of the best trips down memory lane I've had.

Shelley,

I don't remember ever seeing the Four Seasons live, but ...
Several years ago, the Beach Boys came to Wilmington and my husband and I went to see them. We both found it very strange that there were these "old-looking" guys up on the stage who didn't look at all like the Beach Boys, but sounded like them.
What was even more bizarre, was the audience. The seats were full of these old-looking folks acting like they recognized the music! They were all so "old"!!!!!!

Bonnie,
You're welcome.

Louie,

I just received an email from Campmor advertising a special on snowshoes. Would you like me to forward it to you?

To anyone that hasn't seen Jersey Boys... It's a must to see . Saw it last summer in Cleveland, its one of the best shows i've seen. I remember going to many shows at Leo's Casino about 37 years ago, can't remember who i saw.

In about ’64 or so the Four Seasons played John Carroll University; I snuck in, I think with Johnny Galvin and watched the concert.
After living in Minnesota I can safely say that most of you (excluding Sheryl) don’t know what real cold is. There were mornings in January and February when my thermometer would read -20 without wind-chill and that was the high temperature for the day.
I like being back in balmy Cleveland.

A classmate,Perry has been sending in some sports pictures and encourages anyone with sports pictures to send them in--even action shots at temple basketball games or any sports events. I know I am repeating myself but just remember all the photographs you have been sending in have been sitting in boxes for years collecting dust..and now they have come alive on the internet on this site where everyone is enjoying them and remembering the people they grew up with and the great times they had. So search through those boxes and let the photographs that you have hidden away come join the rest of them where everyone can enjoy them. There are still schools and classes and teams that have not shown up yet. Everyone is waiting...

OK all you SPORTS fans! I just put together a page just for you. It's still in the process but you have to send me photographs for it so it will grow. Hope you enjoy it!

Sounds like Cheryl has the best current handle on what real cold is. OK, Cheryl, you get the golden snowball award ("golden" because we're all beginning to get senior discounts nowadays, otherwise it would be a "silver" award because of the color of the snow and our hair, etc.).
And Cheryl and Kenny get the awards for being the most appreciative and content where they are, as well!!!

Louie,
The bubbas around here talk about "them" thaings, too.
... and they's real men and ladies, too, so they don't wear no snowshoes neither. They think that them thar snowshoes is shoes made out of snow!
