Islarene Siess (Amantea)

In Memory of

Islarene Amantea

Islarene M. "Isla" Amantea (née Siess), born on June 10, 1951, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 73 in Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Siess and Mary Kathryn Siess (née Cotter), her stepmother, Mary Ann Siess (née Kenny), and her sister, Kathleen Schermer (née Siess). She is survived by her dear friend and former husband, Joseph Amantea; her children, Phillip (Holly), Stephanie (Justin Schneider), Arthur (Ann), and Mary Kathryn Christ (Nicholas); and her cherished grandchildren, Dominic, Cadence, Averie, Gionni, Amelia, Amaya, and Louie. Isla also leaves behind her beloved sisters, Barbara Hamilton (Jeff, deceased), Laurie Szuter (Mark, deceased), and Terri Szuter (Kurt), as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A dedicated registered nurse, Isla retired from the Cleveland VA Hospital after a fulfilling career that also included positions at The Cleveland Clinic and Sisters of Notre Dame. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Anselm Church and worked there before moving to Willoughby Hills to pursue full-time nursing.

Isla had a deep love for nature and adventure. She enjoyed traveling, beach outings, hiking, gardening, feeding birds, and spending time outdoors. She treasured 'sisters' trips,' attending special events with her family and friends, and volunteering at the International Film Festival and Cleveland Playhouse. Her love for animals was evident in the care she gave to her four cats. In a final act of generosity, she donated her body to The Cleveland Clinic Foundation for research.

A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 25th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Saint Anselm, 12969 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, Ohio 44026. In lieu of flowers, Isla and her children request donations be made to colorectal cancer research.
