Marlene married my older brother, Steven, while I was at UC. She was a loving mother who left behind two children, J.J. & Allison, and has three grandchildren she never got to see (all from Allison)...the youngest of whom, according to Steven, is the "spitting image" of her. Sadly, she left us way too young.

Marlene was the first "other" Marlene I met - back in Elementary School. We were great friends and had lots of fun together. I remember her house, which was set way back from the street. We would ride our bikes, or walk, to Cain Park and finally decided to hide some games under some rocks so we wouldn't have to keep taking stuff with us every time we went. Whenever I go past Cain Park I think of her. She was a great friend and she will always be missed and remembered.

I remember Marlene's house, too. They had a huge yard and a rope swing. I used to go swimming at the JCC with Marlene and her brother Joey. After swimming we ate ice cream sandwiches. I remember getting rides home from Marlene's mom. There was a birthday party at Marlene's house where Marlenes' older sister Gloria pretended all the presents were for her. Marlene was so smart in sixth grade!

Marlene and I were friends starting at Taylor Elementary School - I remember visiting her home and how much fun we always had together . I laughed at the memory of her sister prentending that all the presents were actually for her -that was a great moment! Miss you Marlene- rest in peace.
