Lee (Paula) moved to Israel in 1976. She married a kibbutznik and lived on Mishmar Haemek for many years but then moved up north to the Golan in Israel to another kibbutz. For me Paula was always my hero. In 7th grade I was teased endlessly by other children and she was one of the few who stood by my side and told me how to fight with words. People teased her too but she let it roll off her back. In Israel, on the kibbutz, she was well loved by everyone. I was at her wedding and many years later saw her on the kibbutz up north when she was already suffering from the effects of cancer. I was always amazed at how well her life turned out, with a doting husband and warm and loving children.
