Edward Bennett Goldstein, 69, of Lynbrook, N.Y., died Dec. 19, 2016.

Ed was born on Feb. 5, 1947, in Cleveland Heights to Maurice and Lena (nee Seltzer) Goldstein. He graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University. Ed earned a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin. Ed began his lifelong sales career while in high school, working initially as a Fuller Brush Man. After receiving his MBA, Ed worked for Johnsons Wax in Racine, Wis., and later was employed until his passing in marketing and selling ever more sophisticated medical and surgical equipment to hospitals and physicians. He also trained the medical practitioners in the proper and most effective use of this equipment, enabling them to save lives, extend lifespans and increase the quality of life for thousands of patients. Ed played guitar and sang to his children while they were young, and this evolved into a family sing-along activity as the boys grew into manhood. He was very close with his children.

Ed is survived by his wife of 44 years, Irene (nee Winterfield) of Lynbrook; sons, David Goldstein of Selden, N.Y. and Brian (Jean) Goldstein of Copiague, N.Y.; and brother, Michael (Beverly) Goldstein of Beachwood. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Nancy (Harry) Schubert.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 21 at Star of David Memorial Chapel in New Babylon, N.Y. Interment was at New Montefiore Cemetery in New Babylon.

Contributions are suggested to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
