From Bruce Dzeda:
Andrew was a friend and in my homeroom at Monticello Junior High School. I well recall his unique sense of humor and the fact that even in 9th grade he could develop a five o'clock shadow. To sit in class near Andrew was to laugh a lot, although he himself was quiet, shy, and self deprecating. His humor was gentle, never mean, and he was a pleasure to know.

Andy was a close friend in high school and I saw him, on and off, for many years afterwards. He was bright, wry, witty and remarkably gentle. He managed the state liquor store on Lee Road for a number of years, but was plagued with health problems that put him on disability. I have fond memories of many wasted HS evening talking with him and other friends and playing Scrabble with his family (who were truly vicious and cutthroat Scrabble players--wiling to take any triple letter or double word space in pursuit of blocking one from a high score
).
