I think this is the correct obituary from the Washington Post.  Her maiden name was Munn.  Carol (Caddy) Pundai reports that she had lung cancer.

Debbie was fun to be around.  The trombones were lucky to usually march close to the Marjorettes.  I am sorry to not see her this next year at our reunion.  RIP

When I moved to Cleveland Heights in the eighth grade, I became friends with Debbie. She had just moved there as well when we met at Monticello. We had a blast attending "Teen Town" dances at her church on Friday nights with Mary Ellen McBride. She was always alot of fun! I remember she had a really small light blue car that we would ride around in after the football games on Friday nights. We were majorettes together and spent the fall at all the football games with the marching band. We again met up when she transferred to Cleveland State and became sorority sisters. We were in each other's weddings and tried to keep our friendship alive. Eventually she ended up in Virginia and time happened. We would see each other and phone time to time but..... I was excited that we had made plans to meet up in Florida after a cruise the winter before she died. However, she went straight home due to being ill. At the time, she was unaware she had cancer. I never got to see her again. Debbie was such a kind soul. She raised three handsome, successful sons who have wonderful families. She was ALWAYS family first. I am so sad that we let time get away from us. Make sure you take the time to reach out to all your old friends. A special thank you to Mary Ellen McBride for taking good care of Debbie at the end.
