Keith Decker's Announcement of the Funeral:
Sig’s funeral will be at 10 am in Benton, LA. on November 17th 2007. He will be laid to rest and to play golf, hunt and fish with the big guy that watches over all of us. They will have visitation in Benton where he lived with his wife Paula on Friday the 16th at 7:00 pm. I remember his phrases and can still hear him say” LETS GO LETS GO LETS GO” before heading to Momence or “ MORNING, NOON, AND NIGHTIME”. Brian Brave and I will be meeting in Dallas on Thursday and drive over for the visitation and funeral. I will make sure that the Big F and Class of “74 are represented with flowers and condolences.
Sig taught me how to hunt and to fish as I had neither gun nor fishing pole. What was his was mine. He was a great friend to the members of the Big F but also a friend to all of the Class of “74. He will be missed by all of us.
Please say a prayer for Jeff, his son Justin, and wife Paula as well as his brother Jay and Sister Jackie.

Written by Keith Decker after Sig's Memorial - Brian Brave and Gary Pope were in attendence. Paula is Sig's wife:
It is still hard to believe we will not see or speak to Sig especially considering we all feel like we are in our 20’s----well 30’s. It was great hanging out with Brian and Gary although not enough time. By the way Gary still tells stories (lies) that everyone enjoyed and Brian and I confirmed for Gary. He had everyone laughing and at ease at Sig and Paula’s house. They all could not get enough of our stories about Sig and high School.
One thing that everyone wanted to know more than anything else about Sig was –What does Sig stand for. Of course we could not tell them—Even Jay does not know and, by the way, that story will be off limits at our get together, also.

For some reason I never got to spend much time with Jeff even though we went to school together since 7th grade, but I was within ear shot of him a LOT at our 25 year class reunion. Until then I had no idea how clever and witty he was. He had me cracking up every time I was near him. I will now always treasure that time I had, never dreaming that it would be my last contact with him. After meeting up with several classmates at the Clifton Sesqui-Centennial, Keith walked Connie and I to my parent's house and regaled us with Sig stories through the wee hours of the morning (the latest any of us had stayed up for a loooong time!) Again, he had us laughing until our sides hurt. (And no, he would not tell us what Sig meant.) He shared with us that he and Brian would soon be taking a trip to get together with Jeff. Unfortunately, the next trip they took together to visit Jeff was for his funeral. I can't help but think Sig will be smiling down at all of us at this reunion, and if anything crazy, unexplainable or prankish happens that night, I know who is to blame!Brian Brave
There are so many stories and events that involve Jeff! Unfortunately, over time I believe I've forgotten more then I remember. The last story was that Jeff had taken a new job in South Carolina and and was in the process of moving. After the move Keith was going to travel on business and the three of us was planning on meeting together. Even though Jeff had been given a clean bill of health that event didn't happen. My last conversation with Jeff was when he was in China on business. I had tried to call him and his wife urged me to call him. It was 8am in China and I interupted him in a meeting, but I am glad we had that conversation. Jeff sounded good and seemed to be his usual excitable self. As it turned out Jeff died a month or so later and a week after my Dad passed. Keith called to let me know and the timing made it very difficult for me to attend Jeff's funeral. I was able to attend only because of Keith's generosity. It was good to be there to meet his wife, son, and to reunite with other friends and family members. I wouldn't have realized the importance of being there and what I would have missed without Keith's kind gesture.
