Edwin (Ed) Glen Brown, 71,went to be with our Lord onMonday, July 31, 2000. Ed was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on September 17, 1928, to Edwin Glen Brown, Sr., and Elsie Oster Brown. He is survived by his wife
of 45 years, Marian (Ann)
Ainsworth Brown; three children,
Danny and Melissa Brown of
Austin; Denise and Travis West of
Richwood; and Dena and Don
McClure of Bellaire; and six
grandchildren, Geoffrey, Daniel
and Victoria Brown of Austin,
and Marshall, Erik and Jenna
West of Richwood. He is also sur
vived by his mother-in-law, Mary
Neal Ainsworth of Freeport; a sis
ter, Charlotte and Dallas Baker of
Pittsburg, Texas; a sister-in-law,
Sue and Ken Benson of
Columbia, Missouri; and numer
ous nieces and nephews. He is
preceded in death by his parents
and his father-in-law, Felix Ainsworth.

Ed graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1946, Baylor University with a degree in Religion in 1950, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master in Religious Education in 1952, and Colorado State University with a Master of Arts in Mathematics in 1973.
After graduating from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he was a Minister of Education for a total of 14 years at Velasco Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Port Lavaca, Southside Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, and Colonial Baptist Church of Dallas.
As an employee of the Brazosport Independent School District, he taught Mathematics and drove a bus for 24 years at first Brazosport High School and then Brazoswood High School until 1991. At Brazos wood High School, he sponsored the Junior Engineering Technological Society (JETS) and was awarded the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) Gulf Coast Chapter Friend of the Engineer Award in 1987. He also taught part-time at Brazosport College. He enjoyed tutoring students, especially the children of students " he had taught in public school. After retiring from teaching, he was a president of Brazosport Association of Retired Teachers.
As a youth, he earned his Eagle Scout badge from the Boys Scouts of America. Most recently, he held the position of District Commissioner for the Bay Area Council Cradle of Texas District of the Boy Scouts of America. An avid fisherman and hunter, Ed also volunteered at the Brazoria Wildlife Refuge.
Ed was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Surfside (The Anchor). He will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the First Baptist Church of Surfside or the Boy Scouts of America. For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from Him who walks uprightly. Psalm 84:11
Family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Lakewood Chapel. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2000 at the First Baptist Church of Surfside (The Anchor) with Rev. Gaylen Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be Dick Moraw, Robin Rape, Jerry Roye, Lonnie Key, Wendell Alford, Alfred Cole, Andy Wheeler, Marty Gibson, Jim Shippert. Honorary pallbearers will be John Bluejacket, Cyril Purvis, Don Williams, Breezy Cox, Bill Morrow, Gene Marcum, Jerry Spencer, John Sitka, Norman Wood, and Robin Bashaw.
