In Memory

Rachel Howk

Rachel was born May 14, 1971 in Litchfield MN and moved with her family to their home north of Dassel on Lake Arvilla at the age of 1 1/2.  She was a fine student and an avid sports participant.  Her participation included volleyball, basketball, and track.  Already as a Freshman, colleges and universities were interested in Rachel's track abilities.  She was the commander of the Colorguard for the Marching Chargers and was a member of the school band.  Rachel's hobbies included going out with friends, listening to music, playing sports, watching movies, and reading books.  Her favorite school subject was Phy Ed.  Many of us cannot hear "Carrie" by Europe or "Here I go again" by Whitesnake without thinking of Rachel!  She always had a smile on her face and would crack jokes that would make everyone laugh!

Rachel died as a result of an auto accident on July 24, 1987, reminding all of us that each day is a gift we need to treasure.
