I liked Kelly. He often lived on the edge but was frindly, funny, and courageous. I remember one story - I think we were in 9th or 10th grade. Kelly was riding his motorcycle and hit a turtle in the niddle of the road - turtles seemed to do that a lot in Colinsville. Anyway, as a result he lost control of the bike and ended up hitting the pavement face first. He lost several of his from teeth and - as I recall - was pretty seriously injured.
Here is the good part: When he'd gotten out of the hospital and recovered he came back to school. He had gotten false teeth to replace those he'd lost. To our delight and entertainment he would take them out and show everyone...it was funny. He really took it in stride. When someone asked how the accident happened he told us of hitting the turtle. Someone asked if he was trying to hit the turtle. Kelly smiled, giggled, and said "yeah"! Then he giggled again. I've always remembered that story - he was like that, always bounced back when something bad happened.
