Willard Eugene Neugebauer, 65, died Sept 5, 2008 in his home in Holyoke. He was born in Lamar on July 29, 1943 to Eugene and Rena (Reinert) Neugebauer.

Willard graduated from the Air Force Academy High School in Colorado Springs in 1962 where he met Barbara Aull. They later married in 1964 and to this union five children were born, Pamela, Joseph, Larry, Eugene and Kristin.

During their time in Colorado Springs, Willard worked as a machinist in Kamen Nuclear and Hewlet Packard. In 1973, the family of seven moved to Ovid and started farming and raising pigs and other livestock.

He also taught at Revere High School where he instructed students in vocational skills like carpentry and welding. Every two years, he and his students built a new house from the bottom up and auctioned it off for school funds.

In 1992, the family moved to Holyoke where he started working at Seaboard to manage a sow operation. He worked his way around the company for 14 years before retiring in 2006.

Willard also enjoyed wood working and made several beautiful pieces for friends and family. They will be cherished for many years to come.

Willard bravely fought with lung cancer for four years.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Barbara; children and grandchildren Pam and Rick Ornelas, David Collins, Cody Collins, Jr. and Johnny Ornelas; Joe, Corina, William (Willy), Tyler and Kory Neugebauer; Larry, Annie, Nicole and Spencer Neugebauer; Gene and Ryan Neugebauer; and Steve and Kristin Clancy; and dedicated companion Ruzzo. He leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous extended family members.

Visitation for Willard was Tuesday, September 9 at Gerk Funeral Home in Holyoke.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, September 10 at the First Baptist Church in Holyoke with Pastor Gordon Penfold and Art Roth officiating.
