I am not 100% certain, But I believe Jim, and I were the only AAHS grads to have ever served in the Submarine Service... Jim, was lost as this page says on this date May 21, 1968... As a Fellow "Brother of the Phin", he and his other 98 Shipmates on the USS Scorpion SSN-589 will never be forgotten.
The risks we took Voluntarily were well known by Jim, and myself.
But nothing I ever accomplished in my life, holds such a lofty place of accomplishment and Pride, as having Qualified in Submarines, and wear Proudly my Submarine Warfare Qualification Insignia.. or as we in the Sub force call them.....Our "DOLPHINS...
We have an expression of Memorial Respect for a fellow Shipmate on "Eternal Patrol"..
"Rest is Peace Brother, I wish you Fair winds, and Following Seas!"
