John Dennis “Denny” Dickenson, age 72, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Villa at Blue Ridge. He was born on December 14, 1950, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of John and Wanda (Downs) Dickenson Sr.

Denny graduated from Hickman High School. He served his country in The United States Army in Korea, during the Vietnam era. He also served as an Ceremonial Honor Guard during his time of service.

He began working at Wilson’s Meat Market out of the service and then at Coca-Cola. He worked in the family owned business, Dickenson Plastering for many years. He also worked for Residential Life at the University of Missouri as a drywall installer/plasterer.

Denny loved to fish and enjoyed many fish frys with the people he worked with. He also enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with family.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa Dickenson of Columbia; brother Rick (Bev) Dickenson of Hallsville; sister Judy Lacy of Columbia; grandsons: Mikeale McGruder, Jamon Washington; and granddaughter Nautica Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry Dickenson.
