Melinda Sue Jackson Obituary

Melinda Sue (Nibbelink) Jackson, age 72, of St. Charles, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. She was born on September 16, 1951 in Columbia, MO to Wayne Roy and Vera Joyce (Hagan) Nibbelink.

Sue graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1973 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She then continued the pursuit of her lifelong dream of teaching young children. Sue taught 3rd and 4th grades in Chamois and Lonedell before moving to St. Charles in 1976. Sue taught 3rd and 4th grades at Benton Elementary, where she thoroughly enjoyed the neighborhood environment, students, and staff for several years. She then brought her love of children and teaching to Monroe Elementary for the remainder of her career, where she was honored with the award of Teacher of the Year.

Sue married Wade Jackson in 1974. They both retired from the School District of the City of St. Charles. Both of their children (Eric and Jodi) were born and raised in St. Charles, where they attended Willie Harris Elementary, Jefferson Middle School, and graduated from St. Charles West High School.

Sue was a devout Christian, faithful servant, and witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved to worship with her community at Ridgecrest Baptist church while singing in the Sunday Choir, performing with the handbell choir, acting and singing in the annual Passion Play, and filling in on piano and organ as needed, as well as performing for elderly residents of the St. Charles community. Time in God's word and faithful prayer for those in her life acted as fuel for her faith, and God used her to care for many in the local community. She enjoyed serving children and youth through Bible study and Sunday school, both at Ridgecrest and Refuge Church.

Sue is survived by her husband, Wade Jackson; son, Eric Jackson (Liz); daughter, Jodi Howell (Tyler); six grandchildren, Kaylee Jackson, Jilian Jackson, Conner Jackson, Lauren Jackson, Baer Howell and Posey Howell; one brother, Larry Nibbelink (Judy); and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Vera Nibbelink, and her brother, William Nibbelink.

A memorial service will be held in Sue's honor on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Refuge Church (1735 S. River Rd., Suite 100, St. Charles, MO 63303) from 2:00-3:30 p.m.
