Phillip Carlton Reiss, 59, of Columbia died peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Boone Hospital Center.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will be held an hour before the service.
Phil was born on Aug. 3, 1951, in Moberly to Fred H. and Doris M. Reiss.
He was a graduate of Hickman High School and attended the University of Missouri. After leaving school, he worked in management and sales in Columbia as well as in Tennessee, where he made many good friends.
Phil touched many of the lives of those he came in contact with. Always an easygoing and happy person, Phil loved to be the center of attention, where his greatest joy was making others laugh. He was well known for his wonderful sense of humor, stories and the love of family. He was always smiling, even on his worst days.
He is survived by his children, Amy Lundquist and Jessica Reiss, both of Columbia, and Ben Nanson and wife Betsy of Overland Park, Kan.; a sister, Merrybeth Beahan and husband Al of Columbia; a brother, Fred Reiss and wife Kathy of Urbana; five grandchildren, Adrienne, Brady, Trinity, Zoe, and Bing; and many other family members who will all miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
