I miss Ricco. She was my soulmate. We started dating the 1st day of 8th Grade at Dent Middle. From the minute i saw her, i knew she had to be my girlfriend.

Through the Northeast years, we had our problems. Mainly because I had a hard time staying in school. By graduation, we parted ways, but i was still in love with her.

I ended up joining the Army and my first duty station was Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. I sent her a letter and let her know i wanted to be with her- Forever. We married on July 13, 1990. After a few months of getting our living situation together, she joined me in Hawaii in September of 1990.

We had many great times together, far too many for me to mention here. We had a good marriage and it was the happiest time of my life.

Ricco passed away in a car accident on August 21, 1991. She was in the car with a friend of ours. Unfortunately, Ricco wasn't wearing a seatbelt. The woman with her did survive, but i haven't spoken to her since the accident. Ricco was 20 years old.

To this day, I have never felt so much pain in my life.

I'm blessed to have known, married, and loved Ricco. She was a very caring and kind woman and i think about her everyday- even after all these years. I miss her with all my heart.

Ricco was a joy and a spirit that can not be easily forgotten. Her wide-bright eyes were as endless as her personality. I truly enjoyed her quick wit and her unselfish sharing of life to all she came in contact with. We are all much better for having known and shared time with Ricco Alston Hayward.

Jamal. Stay strong and know that your time together was not in vain. Your life is all the more complete having loved and shared your quite strength, cool demeanor, and your all-around peaceful being with her. I always thought that the both of you balanced each other out so perfectly. May you always have comfront and strength in knowing that God never makes mistakes and that he has you in his hands.

What do I remember about Miss Ricco? A beautiful young lady both inside and out. It hurt my heart to hear she'd past and to this moment it is still hard to believe she's gone. She and I were not close but she was still special for just being who she was. To you Jamal, I know words can't express how it feels to have lost the one person you love most in life, but know this you will be together again one day in the next life. Always be strong and know that GOD is always in control. Be BLESSED.
