GREENWAVE MEMORIAL

Shelley Larry - Class Of 1978

Shelley Larryhelley Ann (Larry) Smith, age 60, of Grenada, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 28th. Shelley is a highly respected, well known Nurse Practitioner who practiced medicine for the past twenty years in Grenada specializing in Women’s Healthcare. Prior to that, she was a Registered Nurse for ten years during which time she was employed by Grenada Lake Medical Center. She viewed her chosen profession of nursing as a calling, approaching it as a ministry rather than a career. She loved her patients and her patients loved her.

Shelley’s other love was her family. Her two greatest joys are her grandchildren, Madelyn Ann and Hannah Joyce. She devoted her attention to them at every opportunity. She was the glue that held the family together!

Shelley, a born again believer in Jesus Christ, is a member of the Grenada Church of God. She assisted her husband for many years, going into the local jail and sharing Agape Love and the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the inmates. Having a servant heart, her entire life was about service to others. She loved God, loved her family and loved her patients. She leaves a void that cannot be filled but we rejoice, knowing that she is in the presence of our Redeemer and Savior!

Her favorite pastime was crocheting blankets and assembling gift baskets. Over the years, she would crochet blankets for family, sick and elderly friends, newborn babies and anyone else she felt led to bless.

Shelley is survived by her husband of 41 years, Wayne; two sons and a daughter-in-law who was more like a daughter, Michael, Patrick and his wife Jessica; two grandchildren, Madelyn and Hannah; her parents, Anthony and Betty Larry of Alexandria, LA; a brother, Anthony Larry, and his wife Kristy; and a sister, Cindy Lynn; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will take place at the Grenada Church of God on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11:00 AM officiated by her two pastors, Brother James McElroy and Brother Frank Samples. While there will be no visitation prior to the service, the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Following the service, she will be interred at the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael, MS.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Joe Roberts, the doctors, nurses and support staff at the North Mississippi Medical Center COVID unit and all of the friends who prayed for her and our family. We will be forever in your debt!

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grenada Church of God.
