Columbus, Georgia- Mrs. Lillian Maurice Jamerson Sconiers, 92, resident of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 surrounded by family at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life's Services will be Noon, Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Dr. Curtis Crocker Jr., Pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from Noon until 4:30 PM. Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority will hold an Omega service from 4:30 PM until 5 PM and a hour of reflection from 5 PM until 7 PM, according to Sconiers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sconiers was born in Columbus, GA on July 28, 1926 to John C. Sr. and Leeanna Jackson Jamerson. She graduated from William H. Spencer High School in 1943. Mrs. Sconiers graduated from City Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She later became a Registered Nurse and worked at many of the local hospitals. She retired from Martin Army Community Hospital. Mrs. Sconiers was the owner of Sconiers Florist and worked as a greeter and a receptionist at Sconiers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sconiers was a faithful member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church where she was the Mother of the Church. She was president of the Pastors Aid Group and was a missionary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Sconiers Jr., a daughter, Susie Sconiers Stephens, a sister, Dorothy Odom, and a brother, John C. Jamerson Jr.
Survivors include: two devoted sons, John L. III (Vanessa) Sconiers, and Maurice M. Sr. (Marvetta) Sconiers; three sisters, Marion Moses, Mary ( Attorney Felker Jr.) Ward and Barbara Ray; ten grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Lillian Sconiers Persons and Isabella Sconiers Chester, special cousins, James Bussey Sr. and Clemetine Mayfield, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
