Columbus, GA- Mrs. Johnnie Lee Brown Collier transitioned home on Thursday at her home. She was 92 years of age.
The daughter of the late John Sr. and Cleola Daniel Brown, Mrs. Collier was born in Columbus, GA and was a 1943 graduate of William H. Spencer High School. She was employed with the Columbus Regional Medical Center, the Elderly Daycare Unit at New Horizon, and retired from Enrichment Services as a receptionist. She was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church where she was active with the Deacon's Wives Ministry and PICCM, and former Trustee Ministry, Pastoral Relations Committee, Golden Age Ministry, and Program Ministry. She was also a member of the Electric City Chapter #482, and Order of Eastern Stars.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Deacon Samuel Collier, Sr.; three children, Bernard H. Collier, Annie L. Cooley and Barbara Ann Hixson, and three brothers, Roosevelt Brown, William F. Brown, Willie J. Brown, and Wallace Brown.
Surviving her departure with cherished memories, include: two sons, Samuel Collier, Jr. (Mattie) and Michael A. Collier (Mary); four daughters, Bernice Collier Collins, Agnes Collier Averett (Harold), Michelle Collier McClain (Randy) and Julia A. Byrd; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three brothers, Donald Brown (Theresa), John Brown, Jr. (Betty) and Marvin Brown (Ella); two sisters, Rosa Crocker and Elaine Hart; a sister-in-law, Crystal Brown; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Collier will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with interment at Green Acres Cemetery. Pastor J. H. Flakes III will officiate. Visitation is Wednesday at 2 p.m. with a family hour from 5 til 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at progressivefuneralhome.com.
