James James "Jim" E. Cyphers
(August 18, 1945 - April 10, 2012)

 

James E. “Jim” Cyphers was born on Aug. 18, 1945 in Concordia, KS to Clifford "Kipp" & Catherine (Sullivan) Cyphers.  He died on Tues., April 10, 2012 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 66.  Jim graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School in 1963.  He married Anita Brichalli on Feb. 22, 1966 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  He began working for Missouri Pacific in June 1968 and retired from Union Pacific railroad as a conductor in 2000.  He also farmed and was a brick layer.  He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Compassionate Friends.  He was a member of the United Transportation Union with the railroad.  Beginning in 1995, Jim was a dedicated organizer of the Concordia Catholic high school reunions and every subsequent reunion that occurs every 5 years.  Jim was a fun, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He is survived by his wife, Anita, Concordia; daughter, Maria Marcotte & husband Gerald, Salina, KS; sons, Shawn Cyphers, Jamestown & Chris Cyphers & wife Kay, Concordia; sisters, Retta Waite & Mary Louise Hydorn, both of Concordia; brothers, Bill Cyphers & wife Jan & Tom Cyphers & wife Betty all of Concordia; grandchildren, Hannah, Noah & Isaiah Marcotte, Patrick Cyphers, Laci Holbert & husband Adam, Katie Cyphers, Jeff Hamilton & Jenni & James Anderson & his father, Jimmy Anderson; great grandchildren, Deekon Holbert, Hunter Hamilton & Nicholas Miller & family friend, Harold Crane, Concordia.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina; his parents & brothers in law, Robert Hydorn & Raymond Waite.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Sat., April 14, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating.  Visitation will be from 11 AM to 9 PM with a Vigil service at 6:30 PM, Friday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Burial will follow the funeral services at St. Concordia Cemetery.  The family suggests memorials to the Compassionate Friends, American Heart Assoc. and the church.
