U D Henslee

HENSLEE Uhlan David Henslee, better known to his friends and family as U.D., passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 94, on February 12, 2009. He was born on June 13, 1914, in Farmersville, Texas to Uhlan and Tommie Henslee. He married his wife, Pat of 70 years on May 10, 1936. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He graduated from North Texas State University and went on to receive his Master's degree at Texas Christian University. He began his career as a teacher and went on to become a principal at both the elementary and junior high levels. He opened Ray High School as the Assistant Principal and later became the Principal at Ray. He finished his career as the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel at Corpus Christi ISD. He retired at age 60 to pursue his life long love of fishing and to spend time at his beloved fishing cabin on the intracoastal canal. U.D. was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Hubert Henslee, and his beloved wife, Pat. He leaves behind his daughter, Ann Henslee Mabry; his grandchildren: Justin David Mabry and Whitney Ann Mabry, and his niece, Karen Meier (all of Houston, Texas). His family and friends will remember U.D. as a man of great integrity, goodness of heart and warmth. He always had a kind word or funny joke for everyone he met. He was a man that could be counted on to give great advice on subjects ranging from fishing to the best way to live one's life. He was loved and respected by all the students he came in contact with throughout his career. U.D. will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin David Mabry, Edwin Schroeder, Dr. Richard Davis and Dan Purcell. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Sunday February 15, 2009 at Seaside Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon. The funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 in the morning on Monday February 16, 2009 at the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel, interment to follow at the Seaside Cemetery.
