Willard H. Meehleib, 64, passed away in Galveston, TX on October 22, 2006. He was born on January 20, 1942 in Elrama, Pennsylvania to Wilfred and Ruth Meehleib.
Willard was raised in Corpus Christi and graduated from W. B. Ray High School in 1959. He married Karen Kay Prinz at Trinity Lutheran Church on September 7, 1963. He received his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1965 and his Bachelor of Divinity from Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL in 1968. He was ordained in the ministry of the Lutheran Church on June 15, 1969 at Trinity Lutheran Church Corpus Christi, TX. He served as pastor in congregations at Homestead, IA, Galena Park, TX, and Abilene, TX. After retiring from the Ministry he worked for Celanese Chemical in Bishop, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Ruth Meehleib; brother Bobby Meehleib; and his wife of 38 years, Karen Kay Meehleib.
He is survived by his son, Jeremy Bruce Meehleib of Dickinson, TX; his daughter, Vicki Rae Awbrey and son-in-law Jason Awbrey and grandson Jacob Gerald Awbrey of Springfield, VA; his brothers, Don Meehleib of San Antonio, TX and Wayne Meehleib of Austin, TX.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm with family to receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Seaside Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in memory of Willard H. Meehleib.
