In Memory

Kurt Turner

While living in Maryland, Kurt was on his way to the beach to pick up his wife and son during a hurricane in September of 1999 when he was hit by a drunk driver and killed.  Who can forget such a unique person with his long black trench coat and the notebook he often carried full of his poetry.  He had recently left the Marines after graduating from college, begun a new career with the FAA, and welcomed the addition of his son the year before.  He was survived by his wife Linda, son Jonathan, parents Fred and Anneliese Turner, brother Chris and sister Erica.

a gazillion hours spent on the bus to and from and School and countless movie parties at Kurts. I will never forget playing in Nelsons manure cart with jeff and kurt in the summertime too many memories.
I miss my friend couldnt have been more excited to have finished basic and AIT and was returning on Christmas leave and meeting up with my old friend coming home from the marines in Chicago enroute to Boise small world and a welcome smile!

Kurt and I were the only two students in Independent Study Trigonometry and worked like dogs to try and understand the problems Wiskerken gave us each day. We couldn't really ask questions unless absolutely necessary because he was teaching Geometry to some sophomores during that class period. A lot of the time, we just passed notes back and forth while we were supposed to be studying. Mr. Wiskerken used to give us this look sometimes (you all know the one) and we knew we'd better cool it. It was incredibly boring, but Kurt used to write things for me to read and sometimes I had a hard time not laughing hysterically. I think he might have been deliberately trying to get me in trouble :). I really didn't do very well in that class and Kurt did even worse.

He was a great friend and I have him to thank for giving Bob the courage to ask me out. I've got a wonderful husband and a great life, thanks in part to Kurt's friendship. He was best man at our wedding and Bob was best man at his. We all stayed close until he died. I don't think we'll ever stop missing him.
