Dear classmates,

For anyone who did not receive the email last Friday, I am sending out the sad news again that Steve Coggin passed away this past Friday on April 9th. There will be a Memorial service at a later date. Please remember Kay and the rest of the family during this difficult time. Steve had been ill for quite a while and his body just gave out.

Miriam Wheeler and Wayne Stowe have discussed doing something special in Steve’s memory because of all the hours, days, and weeks that he spent planning and bringing together our reunion and many class get togethers. The plan is to donate money in Steve’s name for a scholarship. The cut off for donations is June 30. Randall Meadows is our class treasurer so the money will be made out to him. His address is 370 Forest Road, Covington,GA 30016. For any questions you can call Miriam, Wayne, or Randall.

Heaven gained this Angel today. Our hearts are broken. But just to know he doesn’t have to fight the torture of cancer anymore is a relief to us all. He was a soldier of fighting this disease for almost 35 years and was told by doctors that he’d never grow old. With the help of his loving wife, Kay, he proved every one of those doctors wrong. He would have been 78 this coming September. We will always miss his sweet character and wonderful personality. He was definitely one in a million. I love you my sweet brother♥️

The NCHS Class of 1962 has lost a dear friend and classmate.  Steve was definitely "one of a kind."  Although I did not graduate with the class, Steve always welcomed me to the class reunions and other functions.  He had a kind heart and was always very polite.  I've known Steve since fifth or sixth grade and through high school and afterwards through mutual friends.   When I sent him birthday wishes via our class website, he always took the time to reply.  My prayers are with his wife, Kay, and family.  God bless you all.
