Mr. Jeff Benton, age 68, of Covington passed away January 14, 2015. He was born July 10, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late William Chappell and Elaine Conwell Benton. Mr. Bentons family was a founding family of Mansfield Baptist Church where he was a lifetime member and served as a deacon for 30 plus years. He is survived by his wife, Portia Humphries Benton of Covington, their children; Jennifer Benton Kelly (John) of Macon and Sidney Benton (Christina) of Covington his grandchildren; Brooks Benton, Drew Kelly, Belle Benton and Ben Kelly. Mr. Benton is also survived by his siblings; June Benton Webb (Jim) of Canton, Martha Benton Lane (William) of Tifton and William Chappell Chap Benton III (Janie) of Satellite Beach, Florida along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends. Funeral services for Mr. Benton will be held at 3 oclock Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Mansfield Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30pm until 3:00pm on Saturday prior to the service.
