James W. Dawson Jr.

 

RAWLINGS - James Wayne Dawson Jr., 46, of Rawlings, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, as the result of a hunting accident.

Born Dec. 26, 1960, in Cumberland, he was the son of Della Darlene Dawson, Rawlings, and the late James W. Dawson Sr.

James worked for Laborers Local 616 for 28 years and was a member of the Cresaptown Eagles 2883. He enjoyed spending time with his children, taking them hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling, and teaching them his knowledge of auto mechanics and auto body work. His numerous nieces and nephews loved to spend time with him for his witty outlook on life and the helpful advice he gave them.

Surviving, in addition to his beloved mother, are four children whom he loved and cherished, Stacy Dawson, Andrew Dawson, Khiaya Dawson, and Shayon Dawson; four sisters, Cindy Osbourne and husband James, of Rawlings, Nina Lancaster and husband Otis, of Rawlings, Brenda Shelley, of Baltimore, and Kathy Blizzard and husband Danny, of LaVale; nieces and nephews, Jade and Quade Blizzard, Jessica and James Costilow, and Allison and Trevor Shelley; and three children he thought of as his own and helped raise, Tasheena, Brandon and Briauna Barnard.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown (scarpellifh.com), on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Fraternal Order of Eagles 2883, Cresaptown, will conduct a service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. C. Waco Biser officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Dawson Cemetery, Rawlings.
