— LAVALE?— David Michael Smith, 50, of LaVale, died on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at his home.

Born Aug. 5, 1960, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Louis Robert Smith and Geraldine Louise (Ringer) Smith.

David was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1978 and also Vo-Tech. He was a correctional officer at North Branch Correctional Institution and was a member of the Cresaptown Eagles Aerie 2883.

He is survived by a daughter, Alicia D. Shockey and husband Steven, of Lonaconing; three sisters, Barbara Spiker and husband Jack, of Cresaptown, Brenda Smith, of Cumberland, and Rebecca Shipley and friend Robert Mongold, of LaVale; a brother, Louis P. Smith and friend Barbara Baker, of Hyndman, Pa.; two grandchildren, Meredith B. Shockey and Alexander G. Shockey, both of Lonaconing; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold McClay officiating.

Interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Chad Spiker, Josh Noel, Russ Hollins, Jim Zalewski, Corey Clark, and Vernon Ringer.
