RICHMOND, Va. — A memorial service and celebration of life for Charles S. “Chuck” Twigg, will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 4th and Race Sts., Cumberland, Md.
Chuck passed away Feb. 23, 2010, at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital, Richmond.
Born in Cumberland on Jan. 5, 1960, he was the son of Irma I. Twigg, LaVale, Md., and the late S. Cecil Twigg Jr.
Chuck was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He was a 1978 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He was a member of the FHHS marching band. He was the sound tech for the local band Full Steam Eddy.
In addition to his mother, Chuck is survived by “the love of his life,” his girlfriend of 25 years, Stephanie Sherman of Richmond; brothers, Robert and wife Glenda, Flintstone, Md., Paul and wife Tambra, English, Ind.; sisters, Anita Cates and husband Chip, Harvest, Ala., Beverly Miller and husband Paul, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; nieces and nephews, Michele Few, Mark Twigg, Tony and Justin Lohr, Scott and Ryan Twigg, Becki Muir and Amy and Matt Miller; 13 great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-nephew.
Chuck dealt with many health issues in the course of his lifetime, having been diagnosed with diabetes at the age of four. His strength and determination was most admirable. In August 2009, Chuck was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. It seems fitting that his last request was to donate his body to science.
