This from Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262 "Flying Tigers" Command Cronology

12 May saw a tragic incident which would have long lasting consequences. Two H-46 aircraft were detailed to shuttle 4,400# of cargo from Ky Ha to Marble Mountain. At about 1430H the number two aircraft, CH-46 buno 147190, was seen to crash into the ocean. The lead aircraft observed the aft pylon to separate from the aircraft prior to crashing into the sea. Cpl. James M. Akstin, Cpl. William F. Clover, 1Lt Henry Gottschalk, and Captain Jay A. Mitchell died in the crash.

I had heard that William had been killed in Vietnam a long time ago.  Since then, when my family was in DC a number of years ago, I went to The Wall and found his name.  Standing there, touching his embossed name replayed all the emotions that I felt during that time in our lives.  RIP William.

Don and I were in DC last month and found Bill's name on the Wall.  Sad to see it there but glad he is so honored.
