Betty Jo Blakslee

BETTY JO BLAKSLEE REYNOLDS

Betty Reynolds, 68, passed away April 22, 2011 at her home in Deming.
Betty was born on Jan. 11, 1943 in Watertown, NY to Capt. Edward and Kathryn Blakslee. She received a Bachelors Degree from Northern IL U., and a Masters degree from Denver U. prior to earning her first job working at the Library of Congress. Betty's Librarian career turned to colleges and universities in St. Thomas, USVI, Gainesville, KC and Socorro, where she retired. Her education continued, receiving an MBA at UMKC.
Betty turned her love of quilting into a post retirement living, with an in-home studio in her homes in Hillsboro and Deming.
Betty is survived by sisters; Sally (Gregg) Schindel in AZ and Jeri McGuire in IL and her brother Bill (Lisa) Blakslee in CO, nieces; Sarah Zorn, Katy and Kelsey McGuire, Amy and Molly Blakslee, and nephews; Josh McGuire, Andy Zorn, and Alex Blakslee.
Betty died after a six year battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Memorial services will be held on Sat. April 30 at 3 p.m., followed by fellowship and meal at St. Lukes Episcopal Church 419 W. Spruce St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County.
