Judy A. Lemke

Judy A. Lemke Resident of San Jose Judy A. Lemke passed away peacefully on March 19, 2013. She was born on February 4, 1943 in Chicago and raised in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Judy was a resident of San Jose since her move to California in the early 1960s. She and her husband Bill were married in Bethlehem, New York in 1967. Judy was an animal lover; she especially loved cats and took in many a stray. Always a caring, "people-person", Judy eventually found her career niche when she became a guidance counselor and later in 2002, a substance abuse teacher for Milpitas Adult Education where she taught at the Elmwood County Jail. Her own 20 years of sobriety assisted her to become an effective guidance counselor and teacher and making a difference in the lives of her students. She earned her adult teaching credential through San Jose State. She retired from teaching in 2012. Judy enjoyed cooking, spending time at the beach, and rooting for the 49ers. Judy is survived by her loving husband, Bill, of San Jose, her sister, Janet Christman of Dolgeville, New York; her niece, Beth Gyurovits of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and her nephew, Tim Gyurovits of Voorhesville, New York. She leaves a legacy of teaching with excellence, sensitivity, and caring for all the inmates whose lives she touched. Judy also leaves many friends and colleagues who will remember her for her sense of humor, generosity, and constant smile. No memorial services are planned at this time.
