Richard H. Walter Sr, age 78, of Poplar Grove, IL passed to his heavenly home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.
He was the son of Herman and Dorothy (Tonyan) Walter, brother of Dolores, husband of Carla (Ebel) Walter, father of Richard Jr (Cheri), Andrew (Carie), Scott (Alison), and Papa of Brooklyn and Aaron (Scott) and Nicholas and Olivia (Andrew).
As a brother, Richard was supportive, loving and kind. As a husband his love was Carla's rock, he was her best friend, the love of her life, her complete security. They laughed together, they prayed together, and they always had each other's back.
As a family they shared wonderful moments up north, on the golf course, rehabbing apartments, celebrating special events with "feasts" (he was such a good cook!).
Everyone benefitted from his woodworking skills, his gardening skills, and his love and gentle acceptance of individual personalities.
Richard's memorial service will take place on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Timber Point Golf Club, 5750 Woodstock Road, Poplar Grove. Visitation will be from 10-11 am, service to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Cancer Society, St Jude's, or Rockford Rescue Mission.
