Mike Pertle

some sad news - please post on the Memory.
I received this email from Dave Graham this morning. Mick had been battling bone cancer:

"I am sad to relay that Mick Pertle passed away last Sunday, 8 May 2011. He had been battling cancer for about 9 months. I last saw him March of this year and he was in good spirits and looked good. Over the past few years I would visit him at least once a year at his place west of St. Louis and go deer hunting with him on his property. For those of you that don't know, Mick was a jet mechanic in the Navy and then was a jet mechanic for American/TWA airlines. Mick wanted no services at all upon his death, which is typical of his low-key demeanor. I will miss him. He was a friend all through growing up on the North Shore of C.L., high school, and then later in life."

I'll always remember Mick with a big smile and a great sense of humor.  One day we were visiting and he said his nickname was "Fertile Pertle".  Got the name from his father and all the kids he's sired.  Guess he'd be following his dad's stud status.  Still cracks me up today thinking about this story.  Mick might be gone from the flesh but his memory and friendship will always be remembered by all who knew him.  God bless our latest kindred spirit who dwells this day in your house.

Mick was like me in a way, we both dated the same girl in the mid 70,s for a short time  and did not even know it until we met at The Branded Steak house one night by accident to drink our sorrows away cuz she gave both of us the ax.

OH well sorry to hear this sad news.

Dennis
