I met Dick at Immanuel Lutheran grade school in fourth grade. We immediately became very good friends. He had the very first 10-speed bike at school. Very cool! Hell of a baseball player. We played games in a field at the end of Kent Street off of Crystal Lake Ave., next to the C&NW tracks. Dick taught me how to hit a baseball. He was like a brother back in those days.
