Although Winnie was a guest on our class website. She knew many people in our class and enjoyed reading about friends. Winnie passed away after a fight with breast cancer. Our hearts go out to friends and family.
At five years old, Winnie and I became lifelong friends. We were in touch one way or another almost 60 years until she lost her short and overwhelming battle with breast cancer. Many of you knew her from Central grade school, where in band she played clarinet and she was in our brownie and girl scout troop with Mrs. Fairfield and Mrs. Simmons. In her last months, we shared many laughs and tears as she remembered many of you on this website. Winnie passed away in the early morning on June 30, 2014. I had been with her through the previous evening and she was quiet and very calm. I believe her passing was peaceful. She was a friend like no other and I miss her everyday.
