Went to UC San Diego and finished in four years with two degrees. Moved to Moscow, Russia, and worked at a newspaper for nearly two years. Came back to Sunnyvale (winters are too damn cold in Russia), worked a few different jobs in high tech, met my husband in ballroom dance class, and got married. After we bought a house in downtown Sunnyvale, I became a community activist and quit my job to get my MBA.
As a detour, I ran for city council and won in 2003, and had a couple of kids while in office (the first pregnant council member in Sunnyvale). I was reelected in 2007 and will term out in 2011. I served as vice mayor last year, and am hoping to be mayor starting in January. So any of you who live in Sunnyvale, you're all my constituents.
