2 People Shot Dead At Dallas Apartment Complex
DALLAS (CBS 11 News)
Police are investigating a bizarre double shooting that has left two people dead. The incident happened at the entrance of Ridgecrest Apartments, located along Clarkridge Drive in Dallas.
According to officials, at about 2 a.m. Tuesday morning, a car was shot up while pulling into the apartment complex gate. The vehicle, a white Cadillac, had three people inside at the time of the shooting. A man and a woman sitting in the front seats were struck and killed. A third man sitting in the backseat was not hit by bullets.
After the shooting, the car rolled through the gate and crashed into a tree.
The victims have been identified as 28-year-old Kendrick Frost and 27-year-old Shirlee Jones, both of Dallas.
Frost's family is shocked by the man's death. "We are very hurt right now," said Arveta Frost, the victim's aunt. "I just can't get over this. I don't understand. I don't understand what happened. I really don't."
Frost's mother believes that the shooting was an ambush.
Police are collecting shell casings from the scene and trying to piece together exactly what happened that may have led to the double murder. Investigators are also tracking the whereabouts of the victims in the hours leading up to the shooting, including who they may have spoken with, hoping that they will get clues as to who may have committed the crime.
The apartment complex does have surveillance cameras set up around the property. Police are hoping that a camera caught the shooting on tape, and footage will shed more light on the investigation.
