Olivia Sue Hendrichs was born October 7, 1946 to Frances Maree Brewer Hendrichs and Charles Martin Hendrichs in Baltimore Maryland. The family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1952 where she grew up. She attended several grade schools, and Jr highs and graduated from Sunset High School in 1965. A year later, she met Lewis “Jack” Hickman who was a PFC in the Army at Duncanville, they were married in January of 1966 and she began a life as an Army wife living in Asia, Europe, and bases in the States. To that union three daughters were born, Lia, Elizabeth and Mari Kathleen (Kat).
The marriage ended in 1986 and she started over, going back to school, raising her girls, and holding at one time five jobs at once. She went to work for Grace Child Development Center in 1996 in Altus, Oklahoma, and found her true calling. She taught there and ran the Summer K+ program until health problems forced her to retire in 2013 when she moved to Hobart, Ok.
She loved being with her girls and grandkids, the children who came through the center over the years, making crafts from recycled items and above all making up songs and stories for the kids.
She loved God and said she would not have made it without him holding her up. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Altus.
Sue was a force of nature, loved everyone and was loved by all. She had a smile for everyone, even when she physically did not feel like smiling, and a joke for every occasion. Sue was musically gifted, super intelligent, a walking encyclopedia with a special gift in trivia, and the brightest star in the sky. She was a "rockstar" mother, a loyal friend, and a fierce sister.
Survivors include daughters Lia Adams and husband Darrel, Elizabeth Allen and Mari Kathleen (Kat) Hendrichs. Grandaughter Danielle Allen Coover, grandson Cole Seay, and great-grandson Eli. Sisters Debbye, and husband Lanny Stone, Melanie Hendrichs and brother Keith Vencill and wife Laura. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins and other family and friends as well as close friends she made in Hobart, Eleanor and June.
She is preceded by uncles, aunts, and cousins; her parents, her much-loved uncle James Brewer, Cousin Tony Childs, her beloved sister Becky Frank and her beloved brother Kevin Vencill. Share on FaceboShare on TwitterShare by EmailShare by SM
