In 1967 David and I decided to rent a little 1 bedroom frame house, maybe 700 sq. ft., together in Lubbock. We were both going to Texas Tech and in the same fraternity. I really got to know David and how much fun he was. We had a lot of great times together. He was truly the nicest and greatest person. I know many people will miss him. Donna and Don my prayers are with you.

David,
The kids gave you an execellent tribute and send off that was well attended. I can see you smirking now.
You were so very fortunate to have your own personal nurse, personal assistant, drill instructor, and 49 year life partner in Donna, who was mostly responsible for keeping you with us for so long. So get busy and map the lake and save some angel fish for me up there.
So long; classmate, teammate, co-worker, brother in-law, beloved father and husband and my friend.

I am glad I was glad to able to be at David’s memorial service. I enjoyed seeing the “look back” at David’s life through the slides shown on the sanctuary A/V system. Those who spoke at the service all pointed to how David lived his life with a sense of humor in both the good and bad times. There was an obvious presence of love in David's family.
I was pleased to see the large number of our Hillcrest classmates that showed up to say goodbye and support to the family. We were all blessed to have been part of the outstanding class of 1965.
I am sure all of you join me in expressing our sympathy and support for the family. So to Donna, David’s wife, to Don, David’s brother, to Joe and Carla Cawthon, David’s brother and sister in law, and to all their family members please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Ted
