Janet Elaine Jones Ihfe, age 75, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, in San Antonio. She was born on May 21, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to parents Hallie May (Long) and Graham Paul “GP” Jones. Janet graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1966 and from Trinity University in 1970 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She was a gifted math teacher in both the South San and North East school districts. Janet was active in her local community through many service organizations, in particular serving as President of the San Antonio Bar Auxiliary for 4 years. She faithfully supported her children’s educations by serving as a leader in PTA as well as various booster clubs. Janet was a lifelong disciple of Jesus, serving faithfully as a leader at the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ for over 50 years. Her years of serving at Sunset Ridge included roles such as Sunday School Teacher, Children’s Minister, Director of Christian Education, Deacon, and Vision Team Member. Her vibrant spirit, servant heart, infectious smile, and love, kindness, and compassion for all people marked her as an example of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Janet was known for her abundant hospitality, opening her home to family, friends, her children’s friends, and many more. She made everyone who entered her home feel like family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kay Baker. Janet is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard H. Ihfe; her children, Gretchen Minchey (Nate), Kristen Biggins, Karl Ihfe (Kaley), and Gary Ihfe (Jodie); her grandchildren, Jesse Minchey (Nicole), Lauren Minchey Gilmore (Nick), Casey Minchey, Kobe Minchey, Abigail Biggins, Ava Biggins, Gabriel Ihfe, Hallie Ihfe, Lydia Ihfe, and Liliana Ihfe; great grandchild, Rory Gilmore; brother-in-law, Larry Ihfe (Pam), sister in law, Ann Dyll; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
