Steven Prescott Nichols, Sr., 1947-2012 received the gift of eternal life on Thursday April 12th surrounded by his loving family at his Wimberley, Texas, home after a gallant battle against lung cancer. Steve was born in Dallas on July 20, 1947, to John W. (Jack) and Mildred (Millie) Askew Nichols. He grew up in Dallas, graduated from Hillcrest High School, and earned a Bachelors in Marketing at UT Austin.
After working in the telecommunications industry for many years in Dallas and Austin, his entrepreneurial spirit led him and his partners to found ICC (Interconnect Communications Corporation) in Houston in 1982. Within months, this business decision led him to meet the love of his life, Judy. After merging with Inter-Tel in 1987, Steve "retired" in 1994 to spend more time with his family and to indulge in his hobby of investments, forming Nichols Capital & Consulting, Inc.
In addition to being an active and participating father to his two beautiful children, Sara and Pres, one of Steve's greatest attributes was maintaining and nurturing friendships

I miss Nick, his laugh and smile, fun outlook on life, and his intellectual discussions. My roommate in Houston before we each got married, he sure enjoyed life and loved his wife, Judy., and the home he built in Wimberly. He will always be missed.

Sorry I didn't exercise my chance to get to know Steve better in high school. I do remember so well his infectious smile and laughter.
