Obituary

Barry Lawrence Farlett, age 51, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on January 9, 2021 in Ellijay, Georgia.  Barry was born on May 23, 1969 to Lawrence Alvin Farlett and Janice Abernathy Farlett in Rome, Georgia.

Barry was proud to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was dedicated and served in Operation Desert Shield/Storm as a fire direction controlman and NBNCO.

Throughout his life, Barry enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors, especially on the lake where he was the happiest. Barry enjoyed spending quality time with his family and treasured the time he had with his children and grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed being "Papa" to his grandchildren. Barry was also very strong in his faith and held his relationship with God close to his heart. He was a member of The Orchard Church in Ellijay, Georgia. On October 18,1996, he met Joy A. Pittman then on July 19, 1997 they became husband and wife. Their marriage continued for the next twenty-three years until his passing. Barry touched many lives and always wanted to share his faith and the message of Jesus with everyone. He will surely be missed by all who knew him.

Barry is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Alvin Farlett. He is survived by his loving wife, Joy A. Farlett; mother, Janice Farlett; son, Easton (Caroline) Farlett; daughter, Brooke (Aaron) Brown and daughter, Autumn Farlett; grandchildren, Walker Brown, Wayde Brown and Millie Jane Farlett; sisters, Renae Duckworth and Misty (Robert) Black; and many loving nephews, nieces and extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

The Farlett family will receive friends for visitation Thursday, January 21, 2021 between five o'clock and eight o'clock in the evening. A funeral service to honor Mr. Barry Lawrence Farlett will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Owen Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
